WORK READINESS
Did you know that…
… about 50% (47% of boys and 53% of girls) of 15-year-olds in 41 countries anticipated working in just one of 10 popular jobs?
… every year, one in four European adults can be expected to seek out career information?
… 44% of U.S. executives said a lack of soft skills was the biggest proficiency gap they saw in the U.S. workforce?
While the youth population (ages 15 to 24) grew 30% between 1999 and 2019, their labor force participation rate globally decreased by approximately 12%. Some of this decrease was a result of youth pursuing secondary or tertiary education, but over 20% of this cohort were not in education/ training or employment. In short, many young people, who in total number 1.3 billion, are entering the workforce lacking many of the skills they need to thrive. The facts that young people across the world aren’t able to even identify the skills needed for today’s job market and that teenagers’ career expectations are narrowing to a limited range of jobs further exacerbates the crisis.
At ERGO.Academy, we design, develop, and implement programs that help participants to:
-
learn how to make informed education and career decisions, based on skills, interests, values, and with an understanding of the world of work
-
get to know various aspects of running a business, by virtually taking on various roles, e.g., the ones of a CEO, a CFO, a Marketing Director, a Sales Manager, etc.
-
understand basic business practices and develop soft skills necessary for successful participation in the world of work, e.g., teamwork, critical-thinking, decision-making, planning, and problem-solving
-
acquire the communication skills necessary to succeed in business, including active listening, communicating up, down, and across organizations, giving and receiving feedback, talking about job performance, negotiating, and resolving conflict
